We are off..........
Our car from Carmel came right on time and despite heavy traffic on the way to JFK we arrived there at 5 p.m. for our 7.30 p.m. flight to Madrid. A quick kerbside check-in and then off to the gate and although the flight left an hour late and was beset by moderate turbulence along the way we arrived a few minutes early. After disembarking we retrieved our checked baggage we found out that our onward flight would be from Terminal 4. We took the green bus for the 15 minute drive to this terminal which seemed to be a long way away from our arrival terminal at Terminal 1. Terminal 4 is very impressive looks very new. We managed to stop at a very nice French bakery for coffee and pastries before the long walk to our gate for the Iberia flight to Granada.
Boarding was the usual chaos but after a short bus ride out onto the apron and boarded our small commuter jet. The flight to Granada took 45 minutes and was uneventful. We picked up our bags quickly and met up with Bill and Paivi. We got our bags to the car and took off from the airport headed for Malaga. We wanted to add a designated driver to the car rental agreement so we had two drivers for our stay. This was quickly achieved and then we carried on to the house at Manilva. The actual name of the development is Called Las Brisas ll, Puerto de la Duquesa.
The house is charming and has three floors. On the ground floor, there is a nice living room and terrace with views of the sea. A large kitchen and a half bathroom. On the first floor There is a large master bedroom with attached bathroom and a smaller bedroom and another bathroom. On the second floor there is another bedroom. There is lots of room, the rooms are all air conditioned. The house is situated on a hill above the small town. This is just as well as there can be a tendency for heavy rains to cause flooding in the lower parts of the town.
After unpacking and having a cup of tea, we decided to go to the super-market to do some shopping for dinner. This was at a time when we had one of the evening downpours. The rain came down very hard and we managed to get to the Mercadona reasonably dry and pick up some fish, some incredibly priced good quality wine and some other stuff for dinner and breakfast the next morning. When we left the rain was falling even harder and we did get a bit wet getting into and out of the car with all our shopping.
Bill and Paivi prepared a wonderful meal of fish (dorade), salad, shrimp, grilled vegetables and potatoes.
After a leisurely meal with wine, we had a nightcap and retired to bed for a wonderful night's rest
