Getting close....

Only a couple of days before we leave for Spain so last minute preparations are in full swing (!!!??), well, for some of us. Others leave things until much later!! The suitcases have been extracted from storage and that has sent the usual warning signals through the cats who try to sit on them as they await filling in the vain hope we will change our minds and not go!!

Will and Paivi reported in from Spain Central yesterday having arrived safely  and provisioned themselves with food and rink for their first night at Manilva.

We were lucky that a hurricane, (Hurricane Leslie), passed through southern Portugal and central Spain at the weekend. This was very unusual and caused a lot of damage in the Lisbon area, some parts of central Spain and even southern France as its track moved north easterly over Europe. Hopefully, that is it for the European hurricane season.

Weather forecasts for southern Spain are a bit mixed with temperatures in the 70's F (low 20's C) during the day and around a 50% chance of rain for many of the days. It will be cooler at nights, of course. Here, in New York City, the temperatures which have been unseasonably warm for fall until very recently, will drop quite a bit and are forecast for the end of this week in the 30's or 40's F (low single digits C), so we are probably getting out at the right time. The North American hurricane season is not over yet and there is still one active on the west coast but the tropical storms which were showing in the south Atlantic seem not to have developed further which is good news.

So, packing for our stay in Spain will be reasonably straightforward and as we have laundry facilities there, we will be able to keep our travel inventory compact.

Preparations continue.
